In 1980 a group of environmentalists formed a human chain. It began from Scopello and arrived to S. Vito Lo Capo. Thanks to that event the "Sicily Region" by the Regional Low n 98 - 1981 instituted The Oriented Natural Reserve of the "Zingaro". It contain a feature of beautiful and uncontaminated coast of the Castellammare Gulf of about 7 km.
